Acer 3680 - OS Agnosticism
I bought a new notebook and I'm sure some of you will be surprised it wasn't another Mac. But lately I've become more and more OS agnostic. I use Firefox and Google for just about everything.
On the desktop I need an OS that tasks advantage of the hardware I have and doesn't get in my way. Right now Windows , OS X, and Linux do this pretty well. Now of course for serious server work I prefer Linux due to it's built in UNIX tools and application support.
This thing was $500 with a multifunction printer which is a good deal. About the only thing I will run on it locally will be iTunes which had some problems with Vista but it seems the major ones have been worked out with version 7.1.
I might switch to the new version of Ubuntu when it comes out but for now I'm happy with Vista.
